Seven participants from all over Auckland met in Te Atatu South to have a go at jiu jitsu as part of our youth programme. The session was led by experienced athlete and coach Clinton Terry, who is also known as the “Blind Grappler”. The participants, who ranged from ages five to 12, got to learn lots of new jiu jitsu moves alongside Clinton.

Athlete Spotlight: Thomas Coysh
For Auckland based Thomas Coysh, sport has always been a big part of his life. As a teenager, Thomas was diagnosed with a genetic condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which causes loss of vision. His deteriorating vision forced him to learn new ways to keep active. These days Thomas is involved in the many adapted sport opportunities available to him, and is about to go to Outward Bound for the second time.
